Everything You Need to Know About Nude Lip Gloss

It may not be the ‘90s, but nude lip glosses are back. Whoever said nude can’t be bold was just plain wrong, and we’ve got the receipts to prove it. Every babe should have one — or five — good nudes. (We're talking about lip gloss, relax!) Even though they're neutral by nature, a nude lip can be intimidating to some. There are so many options and does it even work for that outfit? Don't worry, babe. We've got some advice for making those nude lip glosses work for you.

WHEN SHOULD YOU WEAR NUDE GLOSS?

Whenever you please. But here are some helpful hints we love:

WITH A BOLD EYE:

You can absolutely rock a bold eye with a bold lip. But if you really want to make your eyes pop, go for a nude lip gloss over a more colorful option.

WITH A FULLY NUDE LOOK:

If you think a fully nude look is boring, think again. Doing a monochrome neutral look can be ultra-sexy — just ask Kim K., who favors a bronze eye and lip combo. You can go totally taupe with a shade a little darker than your skin.

Really, a nude lip goes with every look, so you simply can't go wrong.

SO, HOW DO YOU FIND THE BEST NUDE FOR YOUR SKIN TONE?

We didn’t say the right nude for your skin tone. You can wear whatever color you want, whether it’s nude, purple, blue, pink, and everything in between. No judgment here for your cosmetic choices, but there are definitely certain nudes that will take your look to the next level.

The key to finding the best nude for you is figuring out your undertones. Now, neutral is supposed to be somewhere in the middle, which still leaves a lot of options so we’ve narrowed it down to some of our faves.

COOL TONES:

Cool toned babes have pink, red, or bluish undertones, regardless of how light or deep your skin is. To avoid looking washed out, go for neutrals with those same tones. Some faves include White Russian, Mudslide, and Alexis. Want something a little deeper? Try Brittany.

WARM TONES:

If you have warmer or more olive skin, it will favor peachy, bronze, and copper hues. Some classic options for warmer skin include Sarina, Hot Toddy, and Melissa. Or try dipping your toe into a darker nude like Moscow Mule if you're feeling frisky.

PERFECT YOUR POUT

If you’re stuck on which nude to choose, we love a good Your Lips But Better (YLBB) shade. Try to find a hue that’s just a smidge deeper than your regular lip color. When you wear your YLBB gloss, it'll be so subtle, no one will know you’re wearing makeup, but it will make your pout look oh so sexy.

Try some of our favorite nude BUXOM glosses with different looks and outfits and mix various shades together to customize a nude just for you. At the end of the day, wear what you feel best in. Whatever you pick, we know you’ll work it!
